Chillipadi Melbourne Central

I had been to Chilipadi a few times many years ago. I think the last time we went as a group we weren’t that impressed and we never ended up going again. It was a shame because the atmosphere was great. But as that was many years ago, way before I had a food blog, and a lot has changed.

I was invited down by Food Pampering for another food trail, following the success of our last food trail to Universal Cafe. Joined by fellow food bloggers: Ashley, Erwin, Allan and Michelle, we ate enough for a small village, and all rolled home.

Li and Robert are great hosts, very welcoming and making us feel part of the family. Li has such a motherly and caring vibe, I felt like she was my long lost aunty! And Robert is that uncle who loves his wine, surely we all have one of those. I know I do! Together they have created the Chillipadi empire. I wasn’t aware, but learnt they had expanded the famous Chillipadi to next door with Chilli India; as well as Waterfront City, Watergardens and Australian on Collins. Pan Asian in Prahran, and Chillipadi Mamak Kopitiam in Kensington.

Chillipadi is Halal, so there is no pork on the menu, but there are some other delicious alternatives. It’s a place where you can get delicious, well priced food, in place that feels more like fine dining.

We feasted and feasted; here comes the food porn:

Chillipadi at Melbourne Central is open:

Sunday to Wednesday 10am till late
Thursday to Saturday 10am till 5am
To check out the menu, or more information on the other locations, head to: www.chillipadi.com.au

So check it out if you are in need of supper very early in the morning (when I’m usually fast asleep), or even for lunch or dinner. It’s all delicious. Don’t forget to say hi to Li and Robert!

I was going to say the dosai was big and looks nice, until I saw the roti tisu! How did you manage to eat it? I wouldn’t know where to start! I’ve actually never been to the Chillipadi in Melb Central, every time we go near there, my friends want to go to Max Brenner. :S

WOW this place has stepped it’s game up! It was about 3 years ago that they served me OJ in a foam cup, and gave me plastic cutlery to eat with! Here’s hoping the management was different back then…the food looks divine !

ALl your photos are just gorgeous too! The duck salad looks so healthy and yum, that would be my summer choice but at the moment I am crazing the Beef Rangdang.

Unfortunately they are quite bad with responding to feedbacks. I used to like their food a long time ago but last year I had a less than satisfactory dish at the waterfront outlet and wrote a pleasant e-mail to them to provide some feedback but no reply. My friend also commented that her friend complaint about the service she got at Melb central and again no reply. Needless to say, I won’t be making a special trip there, maybe I’ll pop in if I’m in the area and can’t think of anywhere else to eat…
