Last trip for the year was one to remember. Whisked away by Accor Hotels once more, to Adelaide for two unique experiences. With some of my favourite girls in tow, Mel (@TheTiaFox) and Clarice (@brigadeirochoc), as well as some new friends Emma (@emmakateco), Angela (@thegirlswhoatetheworld), and Yan (@msyan_). 

Our first home away from home for the night was Mount Lofty House, MGallery By Sofitel. Before too long, it was time to experience the hotel’s signature Memorable Moment. Memorable Moments take many forms at MGallery by Sofitel, however remain deeply rooted in the local landscape, culture and hotel character. The Memorable Moment by Mount Lofty House, was a helicopter flight over the magnificent Adelaide Hills in a helicopter and experience the history, produce and wine of our region – then be taken in a chauffeur driven Vintage limousine to some of the regions iconic wineries to enjoy private tastings with the wine maker. Return to Mount Lofty House and retreat to your private room for an elegant and intimate five course degustation dinner with paired wines showcased from your tour. Executive Chef personally selects local produce to create a culinary experience like no other. Unlimited mini bar in your exquisite Deluxe View Room with a sumptuous a la carte cooked breakfast are yours to enjoy.

Dinner at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, the in house restaurant at Mount Lofty House. Executive Chef, Girard Ramsay, and hatted head chef Wayne Brown, have set about capturing the true essence of good food; simple and fresh defined by locally sourced produce, changing seasonally, and the finest internationally sourced ingredients. The restaurant’s ‘Valley-To-Verandah’ ethos is made obvious in the detail, like the unique fire pit consisting of a mixture of charcoals that add a new variety and depth to Brown’s unique flavours.

We were treated to a lovely picnic on the Mount Lofty House grounds, before heading back into town to our next spot, The Playford, MGallery by Sofitel. Distinctly different from Mount Lofty House, The Playford is located in the heart of Adelaide this boutique hotel offers the perfect blend of classical style and contemporary luxury. The beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites feature luxurious amenities and an Art Nouveau ambience that leaves a lasting impression.

After a chance to settle into our rooms, it was time to frock up and enjoy the Memorable Moment. We were whisked away to South Australia’s Restaurant of the Year, Windy Point, and enjoy a seven course degustation dinner overlooking the panoramic views of Spencer Gulf through to the Adelaide Hills. Retire to The Playford’s luxurious Studio Spa Suite for a restful night’s sleep then awaken to enjoy a delicious breakfast at The Playford Restaurant.

Windy Point’s degustation menu, designed by Executive Chef Justin Miles and Head Chef Brendan O’Keefe, was one to remember. With matched wines, mostly local with the exception of Champagne from France, and Sherry from Spain (Pedro Ximenez).  Exceptional dishes, including Korean Fried Broccoli, Sher Wagyu Barbecue Rib and Sea Scallop, and these beautiful Huon Ocean Trout Carpaccio with squid ink aioli, citrus crisps and smoked paprika oil. 

After a restful night’s sleep, and a gorgeous breakfast with the girls, it was time to head back home to reality.
