Japan in Black & White

Japan is a crazy place. From the insane train network, to the quiet lane ways of Kyoto, the temples, the shrines, the endless queues for some of the best food you'll ever have; Japan has it all.

Japan in Black & White

Japan is a crazy place. From the insane train network, to the quiet lane ways of Kyoto, the temples, the shrines, the endless queues for some of the best food you’ll ever have; Japan has it all.

On a recent trip, I decided to not pack the big DSLR, but take only a small little Fuji XM-1 with a few interchangeable lenses. I decided I wouldn’t capture everything, but to only take the camera out when the light is right. Keeping things in black and white really emphasises the primary subject, and doesn’t allow you to get distracted by colours.

I’m looking forward to going back to Japan, to take things slow, and take more time to experience everything around me.

Is it possible to do things slowly in Japan? When I’ve been there everything is always zoom zoom zoom. πŸ™‚ Fun though. I really like these black and whites.

So funny we were in Japan at practically the same time. Love your B&W shots. I agree, having digital tends to encourage you to snap wildly. I remember the old days of film when every shot was rationed with care and financial caution. lol

Yes to black and white for these photos, I definitely agree! And I am the specialist person on Shellie photos cos I’ve seen the colour ones!
