On numerous previous trips down the Mornington Peninusla, I had always driven past the Lindenberry’s sign. Every single time I did not fail to think ‘Oh wow, that place sounds fancy, I HIGHLY doubt I’ll ever get to go and have a look at what it looks like”. So I was chuffed when I was told I would actually be staying there as part of my trip. To be honest, it was enough of a shock that a trip such as amazing as this was an option for me; when I started blogging never did I think it could take me to such fantastic places, let alone all in the same weekend!

Alas, I’ll stop the rambling and get onto the gorgeous accommodation. We followed the dirt road and ended up driving around the front, admiring the grand looking hotel. We also saw the Lindenderry Cellar Door, which does wood fired pizzas outside in the special wood fire oven. We then parked the car in the residents car park and checked in.

To my surprise, Ed who used to work at Red Hill Brewery was there, now part of the hotel staff. Funnily enough he remembered me from my last visit to the brewery and asked if I was still blogging! You can’t miss Ed, he is so friendly and full of personality, it was great seeing a familar face when checking in.

The check in process was seamless; and a nice added touch was a hot wash cloth and warm honey drink to help us relax and freshen up. We were staying upstairs, so the very helpful guy from reception (who’s name escapes me) assisted us  with our bags and showed us to our room. He told us if we wanted the fire place lit when we came back from dinner to just let reception know… ahhh.. bliss.

Mumma and I were pretty much rolling around from all the eating we had done and were just about to flake onto the couch when Mumma exclaims “They have provided nibbles!!!” …. we both looked at the nibbles and can’t possibly fit them in. There was also a bottle of wine which is part of the package when you check into the Superior Balcony Wing rooms; from the exclusive Lindenderry winery estate. We each had a bed, but should I have come up with Hamsley, we would have had a king size bed. There is a gorgeous view overlooking the gardens at Lindenderry, a spa bath, very spacious bathroom, CD/DVD player, comfy robes and slippers…. everything you could possibly want. I was star-fished on my bed trying to prepare myself for dinner; when the smell of roasted peppers was wafting and calling my name from the nibbles plate. I eventually gave in and had some. It also wafted to me when I was about ready to sleep, but at that stage, no amount of awesome smells could persuade me that eating anything more was a good idea.

Guests can also make full use of the pool and tennis courts. Endota Day Spa is also on site to help you fully relax. I would have booked myself in for a massage but we didn’t have enough time, and as well I was bursting from food so it wouldn’t have been very enjoyable. Perhaps another day!

We slept soundly, and got up early for breakfast. The breakfast spread was similar to the Mansion Hotel & Spa at Werribee (both hotels are part of the Lancemore Group). I enjoyed the bircher museli and a chocolate croissant. I could have gone more any other day; but I was still full from 12 hours of constant eating the day before; and we were on our way to the Peninsula Hot Springs, and they recommend you don’t have a big meal before bathing! Ed was floating around the dining area offering coffees. Mumma and I were strictly on green tea… no..more..food!! The breakfast spread has something for everyone; including your eggs, bacon and sausages.

We took a stroll around the grounds; totally gorgeous. I suggest even if you just have lunch here you take a stroll. With the lovely colours of Autumn it was so relaxing walking around with leaves crunching under my feet. I didn’t want to leave, I wanted to take it all back to Melbourne.

I would highly recommend the Lindenderry for your next romantic getaway, or even just for a cellar door tasting, and lunch at the Lindenderry Cellar Door. Don’t be afraid to turn off the main road to check out this tucked away gem.
