Moira Mac’s Chicken
Can I tempt you with a sandwich with homestyle chicken?
So I know that some of you are wary of chicken in a can, despite how convenient it is; but would you contemplate fresh chicken chunks in a resealable bag?
Moira Mac’s range is just such a convenient product. It comes in four different flavours; Homestyle, Barbecue, Tandoori and Mediterranean. I sampled all but the Mediterranean. The chicken can be eaten straight from the resealable pack, or used in hot or cold recipes, such as sandwiches, salads or even soups.
Ready-to-eat chicken using cooked and diced chicken breast isn’t something I’ve seen at the supermarket before. Something I could just crack open onto a fresh roll, other than buying deli meat or roast chicken was something I actually found myself dreaming of recently. And now there is such a product!
Dean and Moira Russell, founders of Moira Mac’s believe that “pure is better”. The new range is proud to earn the Heart Foundation Tick of approval, assuring consumers that is meets the strict criteria for saturated fat and sodium. The range is gluten free, dairy free and free from artificial preservatives, flavourings and ingredients. Made from 100% real chicken breast fillet and 97% fat free, why wouldn’t you want to try some?!
I attempted to used recipes shown on the packet. On the pack of the packets there were also great recipe ideas.
Homestyle Chicken
Served on soy and linseed bread, with lettuce, tomato, avocado and ranch (our favourite condiment) was delicious. The homestyle flavour is more like the “plain” flavour so you can tailor the flavours around it to you liking. Just like a nice chicken and salad sandwich you would pay top dollar for.
BarbecueΒ Chicken
This was probably my favorite. Although thinking back, they were all really good. A nice flavour with a bit of sweetness. It went really well with some melted cheese on top. I’d love to try the barbecue chicken pizza recipe on the packet next time.
Tandoori Chicken
The boy’s favourite was the Tandoori flavour. Popped in a wrap with his favourite ranch with avocado, tomato and lettuce; we were both in heaven. A very true Tandoori flavour was just delightful.
So why not try some for your lunch, or snack!
Moira Macs is available at Woolworths.

AWESOME!!! I’ve seen this in the supermarket and am keen to try it. Hamish is convinced he can make chicken in a can taste good but I refuse to try it. THIS I would try and let him put his magical chef hands to work and create something awesome. Great post!

I usually make my own pulled chicken breast and marinade it some korean styled sauce. π This way, I can have a Korean sandwich. π

I actually ate a lot of chicken products like these when I was in the UK staying in hostels with limited cooking equipment – I remember Tesco had a good tandoori version that was helpful for a protein hit amongst all the sweets I was pigging out on π

Weeee this is Cryovac packaging – I remember these designs (printed in China but, not in my department). It’s always interesting seeing the stuff that comes through my work on the actual shelves.
That’s why the bf often has to drag me away from the cheese aisle – for inspecting the packaging! Ha!
Good to hear they taste good – Guess that’s what the point is of the packaging, to keep such unlikely items like cooked chicken fresh.

That looks really good! I don’t know if I could eat chicken out of a packet though – i’m a bit weird when it comes to meat! Chicken in a can grosses me right out π

I love your photos, they make me want to dig into a salad sandwich straight away.
I have always purchased a 5 kg freezer pack wholesale to save me cooking and pulling apart chicken for recipes. (I used to own a cafe) It takes up lots of freezer space. Now I will be going to the supermarket instead. Much easier!

Loved the chicken breast. Heated for 1 minute in microwave for a warm chicken salad with a avocado, tomato, Lebanese rice and lentils, hummus etc. beautiful.
