Product Review – New Wave Pizza Oven

If there is one appliance I think you should ask Santa for this Christmas (other than a Thermomix ;)), it should be one of these New Wave Just Pizza Maker. Thanks a little help from KitchenwareSuperstore.com.au, and a little help from my bank account, my dreams became reality.

My friend Alana would make me the odd pizza in her Mum’s pizza maker, and more recently her own. It was something I had always wanted but thought a pizza stone in the oven would work just as good. Well, let me tell you, it doesn’t work as good. Something about the heat element being so close to the stone and pizza in the pizza oven ensure no soggy bottoms, and ease of use as it sits on the bench top.

Why do you need one this Summer? Think of all those hot nights when you can’t be bothered cooking. Pick up some bases, ingredients and BOOM! You have dinner done. Or if you are an over achiever like me, make your own dough and freeze it.

Whilst I do have a Thermomix, I really love to knead dough by hand. I find it so therapeutic for some reason. It’s also a great way to get your arms back into shape too 😉

I like to use Pete Evans’ Pizza book, and created this delicious Italian sausage pizza. It’s actually a Guy Grossi recipe with sausage and cavolo nero, and it was just as good as any other sausage pizza I’ve had out and about.

I also made these finger food peking duck pizzas for a High Tea I had at my place with some of the girls. A great idea for your next party too if you ask me 😉

As I had the pizza oven delivered to my work address, we some how decided we should have a pizza party at work. So we did. I woke up at 4:30am to make all the bases, but separated them with aluminium foil instead of baking paper, and they ended up sticking to the foil so I had to re-roll them all with a bottle of balsamic vinegar, as that was the closest thing I had to a rolling pin! It was great fun though, everyone taking it in turns to make their own pizza, and one colleague loved it so much she bought a pizza maker for herself the day after!

KitchenwareSuperstore.com.au sell the New Wave Just Pizza Maker for $119, instead of the RRP of $139.95. If you manage to find it cheaper, they will match the price. They offer free shipping on orders over $150, so pick up some of the other great stuff they sell there whilst you are at it 😉

I’m guessing it doesn’t heat up your house like a normal oven would in summer… or you could use it outside!
…you can use foil to separate them, but remember to spray with olio first. 😉

I’ve bought a couple of New Wave appliances and I’ve been very happy. I’ve tried to stay away from single purpose appliances but you’re twisting my arm!
