MAGGI Just For 2 + Giveaway!

“As much as I LOVE being single and cooking for one, most recipes “serve 4”.. which is great, as when I’m too lazy to half the ingredients, I cook for 4 and have lots of leftovers to keep me well fed during the week. But sometimes, I get sick of eating the same dish 4 times in the same week. With the Maggi Just for 2 range, I don't have to worry about that! It's just enough for 2 meals.”

As much as I LOVE being single and cooking for one, most recipes “serve 4”.. which is great, as when I’m too lazy to half the ingredients, I cook for 4 and have lots of leftovers to keep me well fed during the week. But sometimes, I get sick of eating the same dish 4 times in the same week.

You may have the same problem if you are just cooking for two; whether it be you and your partner, you and your flatmate… you and your imaginary friend (not that there is anything wrong with that!)… or perhaps you have a small family, but need something simple to whip up at home for date night.

Whilst it may be easy to pick up something at the supermarket, most products are aimed at family sized portions.. which is great.. if you have that many mouths to feed. Maggi have come to the rescue of everyone else though. Their new Just For 2 range offers interesting meals to cook at home in 3 easy steps. The best bit is, you can pimp them up as much as you like, if you feel like going the extra mile. With more grown up flavours, no artificial colours, flavours or added MSG, at $1.99 per packet, you can eat something new every night of the week and not get bored!

MAGGI Recipe Bases are a smarter way to prepare a meal rather than spending hours preparing sauces/spices to add full flavour to a meal. I of course, had to give the meatball option a go first…. and I pimped it up adding my own touched. Sitting down to a bowl of this was really surprisingly good. It was full of flavour, and I didn’t think for a moment that I had assistance from a foil packet. Usually I’d have to cook these over a few hours to get rich flavour like this. They are a great base to help kick start a busy weeknight meal.

You can find this MAGGI Recipe Base in your local supermarket, although with other flavours:

  • Lemon & Thyme Chicken

  • Moroccan Chicken

  • Sweet & Sticky Pork

Maggi Just For 2 Spicy Tomato & Red Wine Meatballs

Pimped up from the instructions on the packet

  • 250g beef mince
  • 1 rash of bacon, finely diced
  • 1 handful of grated parmesan cheese, plus extra to serve
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 400g tinned crushed tomatoes
  • ¼ cup red wine
  • 1 Maggi Just for 2 Spicy Tomato & Red Wine Meatballs sachet
  • Torn basil leaves, to serve
  1. Combine beef mince, bacon, parmesan cheese, garlic, along with salt and pepper to season in a bowl. Roll beef mince mixture into 10 meatballs. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a medium frying pan, add meatballs, cook for 5 minutes or until browned, add onion, cook for a further 2 minutes or until softened.
  2. Add MAGGI Recipe Base, tinned tomatoes and red wine, cook for a further 10 minutes or until cooked through. Serve with spaghetti, top with parmesan cheese and basil.

Serves 2

MAGGI Just for 2 would make dinner preparation easier for me because sometimes I don’t have the time (or patience) to make a good sauce from scratch.

Also, lets face it – the prepared sauces are often better than mine 😛

During the week, I am so lazy with cooking so MAGGI Just for 2 would be great to make a quick meal while still had that feeling of being homemade. The Moroccan Chicken in particular looks really delicious!

Love love love your pictures!!! And what a brilliant idea Maggi. Will def make preparation easy for me because with such easy instructions to follow on the packaging, I can shove the chef hat to Leon who claims he has got “no idea on how to cook except for frying egg”. It’ll be a nice change for me to just sit around and relax. My turn to watch TV while he cook! Maybe my wish of him cooking me dinner for a “simple candle night date” might come true after all? *hopeful*

Maggi just for two should be able to help me sneak in a special meal for the missus without here suspecting it. If I came home from groceries with a mountain of ingredients, she’d be on to me straight away!

I would just pass these straight along to Ben so that HE can cook on the nights I am home late from work. :)

I love the idea of sauces for two. John doesn’t eat leftovers (although he says he does) so it’s always up to me to finish them off. Great idea because then I’d get fewer leftovers. :)

    What a great idea!
I can’t wait until it is just hubby and I… although I probably have another 12 years or so to go there… still it would come in handy for nights when I want something quick :)

Wahhh your photo so damn nice lah Shellie!! Love love love. Been wondering about this Maggi range of product everytime I’m at Coles too actually. As for my entry to the competition, how I see Maggi Just for 2 making my meals easy because this stuff sounds like it’s the real 15-minute meal (sorry Jamie O!). I work late most nights as it is and especially on days when I choose to exercise after work as well, my dinners tend to only happen very late. At that point, I really have close to no patience to cook anything decent, which is why this would definitely help a great deal to feed little old me. Who is so picky about wanting to eat wholesome homecooked food but don’t always have the patience to do it. And yes, cooking for one with this would be perfect for me to eat throughout the week too WOOP

I am generally a make from scratch kind of girl. Saying that, some good bases that you can pimp up are great to have in the cupboard when you are busy. In the end, way much better than takeaway.

Maggi just for 2 would make dinner prep easy for me on boot camp days where I leave the house at 4.30 am and get home at 7pm, and have no energy left to spare on an amazing dinner. I like the sound of these so much I’m actually adding to my shopping list to try tonight lol!!!!!

My boyfriend’s kitchen so tiny that we tend to eat every meal ‘deconstructed’. Being able to create an entire full-flavoured meal without juggling multiple bowls and pans would be a godsend!

J has started getting up at 5:30am to go to work, which means he is in bed early and therefore wants his dinner at what I call ‘Grandpa’ time.
Maggi’s Just for 2 range would make it easier for me to get dinner on the table quicker, and earlier, after work, saving me from a hangry husband who keeps asking how long dinner will be!

Not having to make up a flavourbase for meals saves so much time. I love pasta and stirfrys but to get the flavours right always takes a large chunk of cooking time so to have the flavours all ready would be fantastic! Simple and delicious.
