Churro Churro Churro Oi!

How many platefuls of hot original churros do you reckon you could eat in 2 minutes?

Go on think about it…..  fresh golden brown churros… crispy on the outside and fluffy in middle, rolled in cinnamon sugar.

Me: I don’t want to think about it….. last week I consumed enough churros to last me till the rest of the year. Given that we tried lots of chocolate coated ones, including peanut butter centred ones (it was love at first bite)…. I don’t want to eat another churro. But…. $1,000 is on offer! $1,000 might be enough to change my mind!

On August 20 2011, the world’s bravest and most ardent doughnut lover will be announced, with the winner receiving a total prize of $1,000 dollars!

The participants will be randomly selected from all online and in-store registration submissions and drawn at the Westfield Doncaster Spanish Doughnuts store on Saturday August 13 at 11am.

It’s apparently the world’s first churro eating competition.

Where: Fed Square, Melbourne

When: August 20, 2011

Who: Spanish Doughnuts will be hosting the event

How: Register at Spanish Doughnuts’ official website (www.spanishdoughnuts.com.au) or via their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/spanishdoughnuts).

Prize: Spanish Doughnuts to award $1,000 to the bravest churro eater

For a churro to be included in the final figure, the entire churro must be in the mouth, chewed and swallowed. If in the event of two contestants have eaten the same number of the churros, the competition will enter into a ‘Sudden Death’ round. An additional 5 (five) churros will be placed in front of the contestants.

The one who eats the most number of churros within the 2 minutes time frame will be declared the winner.

On arrival, the contestants will receive free caps and t-shirts to wear during the competition. The winner will receive a total prize of $1000 (one thousand dollars).

Peanut butter centered churros just sound like the best thing EVER. Don’t think I’d have the stomach to eat as many as I could for a competition though! Would be awesome to watch though! :B

Churros! Love them. Isn’t it nice to get paid by just merely eating your favorite food? How I wish I could get a job like this, surely I won’t mind eating all day, haha!

This sounds like an interesting competition and I’m sure a lot of people will be more than willing to join. I want to try that chocolate coated and peanut butter filled churros, too! Is that available anywhere?

      Hi Maria,
I know the peanut butter filled ones are available at Spanish Doughnut stores around Melbourne :)

I like to eat but don’t think I could stomach an eating competition! I tend to stay away from buffets too because I lack self control!!

I mentioned on Cherrie’s blog I can’t believe you guys had sweets for dinner!!

You Melbournians are so lucky – churros everywhere!!! Whenever in Melbourne I get tempted by those filled ones, but somehow I always go for the cinnamon sugar ones… Not sure I could eat more than 5… or 10 at one time.
